VMware Expert (Hybrid)
*This position is a hybrid requirement in Denver, CO*
Optomi, in partnership with one of our premier clients, is seeking an experienced VMware Expert to design, implement, and manage private cloud infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have expertise in building and managing VMware environments, automating VM provisioning, integrating APIs, and extracting data from vCenter. The successful candidate will also guide our automation team in implementing efficient workflows and integrations.

Experience of the Right Candidate:
- Technical: 5+ years of experience with VMware vSphere, vCenter, and related technologies; expertise in VMware automation tools (e.g., vRA, PowerCLI, VCD).
- Scripting Proficiency: Strong understanding of API integrations (REST, SOAP) and proficiency in scripting languages (PowerShell, Python).
- Cloud Infrastructure: Experience with private cloud infrastructure management; familiarity with cloud management platforms (e.g., OpenStack, AWS) is a plus.
- Containerization: Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is beneficial.
- Certifications: VMware VCP-DCV or higher certification; additional certifications (e.g., VCIX, VCAP) are advantageous.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Key Responsibilities:
- VMware Infrastructure: Design, implement, and manage VMware vSphere, vCenter, and related infrastructure in a private cloud environment; configure and optimize environments for performance, scalability, and security; ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
- Automation and Integration: Automate VM provisioning using VMware vRealize Automation (vRA) or other tools; integrate VMware APIs with other systems (e.g., ITSM, CMDB) for streamlined workflows; develop scripts for automated tasks; collaborate with the automation team to implement efficient workflows and integrations.
- Data Extraction and Analysis: Extract data from vCenter and other VMware tools for capacity planning, performance monitoring, and optimization; develop dashboards and reports using VMware vRealize Operations (vROps) or other tools; analyze data to identify trends and optimize resource utilization.
- Guidance and Collaboration: Guide the automation team on VMware best practices and automation strategies; collaborate with cross-functional teams (security, network, storage) to ensure seamless integration; provide training and support to junior team members.
