Job Overview
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Assistant Finance Director is responsible for providing key support to both the DOF and department personnel. This position will include tasks related to accounting, financial planning and analysis, general ledger oversight and financial reporting.
Responsibilities/Duties
- Manage the Accounting department's daily and monthly activities
- Manage the hotel's financial activities including financial reporting, assisting the DOF in budgeting, forecasting, cost analysis and controls
- Partner with the Accounting team to ensure that all financials are recorded accurately, timely and in compliance with accounting standards and regulations
- Formulate, recommend for approval and ensure implementation of approved accounting policies and procedures; work closely with DOF to establish and maintain efficient workflows
- Perform various duties relating to the preparation and maintenance of monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting as well as the hotel's accounting records, including preparation of adjusting journal entries, analyzing accounts and preparing periodic financial statements
- Initiate wire transfers for operating accounts as needed; give secondary approval on all wire transfers initiated by the Director of Finance
- Accurately reconcile the balance sheet on a monthly basis
- Assist the Director of Finance in closing the books on a monthly basis
- Prepare and maintain procedure manuals for the Accounting department
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Possess strong leadership, communication, organization and relationship skills
- Experience with training, financial management and customer service
- Familiar and comfortable with interviewing candidates, handling colleague concerns and holding colleagues accountable
- A true desire to exceed guest expectations in a fast-paced lifestyle luxury environment
- Capable of producing a consistent product in a timely manner
- Able to communicate effectively with the management team, guests, and colleagues
- Team builder and ability to successfully manage and develop a team
Required Skills/Abilities
- 5+ years of Accounting experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field required
- Hospitality experience required
- Onsite 5 days/week
- Ability to break down barriers and resolving potential conflicts swiftly and effortlessly
- Strong communication and presentation skills to all levels of management
- Ability to think outside the box and approach all issues with a completely fresh approach
- Ability to anticipate needs and over deliver wherever possible
- Ability to change direction and work on multiple projects aspects at once
- Enthusiastic, passionate and able to enthuse and motivate others
