Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Medical Technologist to join our clinical laboratory team. The successful candidate will perform a variety of laboratory tests and procedures, particularly the hematology tests. Our laboratory is committed to delivering high-quality, accurate results in a timely manner, adhering to CLIA/CAP regulations and maintaining the highest standards of laboratory practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct hematological, chemical, and microscopic tests.
- Prepare samples for examination, using automated equipment and specialized instrumentation, performing numerous complicated tests simultaneously, and interpreting findings accurately.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment.
- Prepare reports of findings, maintaining detailed logs of all work conducted in the laboratory.
- Implement and adhere to laboratory quality control and quality assurance standards and participating in proficiency testing.
- Communicate with lab managers, and other team members regarding patient data, test results, and protocol.
- Follow strict safety procedures and maintain a clean and orderly environment in the laboratory.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Life Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
- Certification as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or a similar credentialing agency.
- Experience in a clinical laboratory setting, particular in hematology, preferred.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Work Environment:
- This position may require standing for extended periods, as well as repetitive work.
- May involve exposure to hazardous materials, chemicals, and infectious specimens; adherence to comprehensive safety procedures is mandatory.
