Groton is one of our largest sites, based in Connecticut, employing 210 employees, and is still growing, Groton is situated in a great location for easy commuting. Some of the products produced at Groton include Nickel and cobalt based superalloy parts, engine structural components, castings – fans, compressors, and combustors and many more that keep the world in motion!
The Role
Using non-destructive testing methods, the Regional Level III will provide support to the site Responsible Level IIIs. The candidate will need to be certified to the following: Digital (DDA versus CR), Film Radiography and PT of Super Alloys per NAS 410 requirements. Additional duties will include traveling and conducting audits of the sites, stepping in as the site Responsible Level III as needed.
Regional Level III certified individuals meet all of the Level I and Level II requirements set forth by NAS 410 for both Digital and Film Radiography as well as the following:
- Are able to interpret codes, standards and other contractual documents that control the method as utilized.
- Select the appropriate methods and technique for a specific inspection as per customer specifications.
- Prepare and verify the adequacy of all procedures and techniques used in the methods which they are certified. Techniques will be verified for accuracy by witnessing and/or reviewing the process.
- Approve NDT procedures and other NDT related work instructions for technical adequacy in the method which they are certified.
- General knowledge of all NDT methods used at all Doncasters locations.
- Supervise and/or perform training in the inspection method(s) which they are certified.
- Produces, administers and grades examinations for all levels of personnel.
- Certified in the method for which examinations are given. The grading of examinations may be delegated.
- Conduct NDT for the acceptance of parts only when a demonstration of proficiency in this capability was included in the practical examination during certification testing.
- Audit site programs.
- Follows all established housekeeping and safety practices.
- Attends training sessions as required.
- Maintains related charts, records, reports and sketches.
- Proficient in the safe and proper operation of FPI processing line, UV and white light meters, inspection lights, inspection gages, densitometer, survey meter, x-ray machine, and light meters.
- Makes acceptance or rejection decisions based upon customer specifications, visual inspection and gauges.
- Pass visual acuity testing requirements.
- Perform a variety of other duties and tasks of equal or lesser complexity.
- Travel requirements up to 35% of the time.
Qualifications
- High school and/or technical school completion
- 3 Years in a manufacturing environment
- 3-5 Years Experience as a Responsible Level III
- ASNT Level III Certificate
- Meet all of the Level I and Level II requirements set forth by NAS 410 for both Digital and Film Radiography
- PW RT Level III Preferred
- RR RT Level III Preferred
- GE RT Level III Preferred
- Honeywell Level III Preferred
- Travel requirements up to 35% of the time.
