We are looking for an experienced, effective, and technically savvy Investment Strategy and Valuation team member to join our growing Energy team and spearhead our energy project valuation efforts.
Position Specific Description:
As Energy Investment Analyst, you will support Tract’s Energy business development by assessing and analyzing financial data to determine the value of assets, investments, and strategic projects. The position requires strong financial modeling skills, understanding of valuation methodologies, and ability to communicate complex financial information clearly. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, and have a strong understanding of accounting and financial principles.This role will include assessments of renewable and thermal generation projects that Tract will acquire, partner with, or provide financing to in support of our master-planned datacenter campuses. We expect the Energy Investment Analyst to make well informed investment recommendations and continuously improve our investment decision making. Employees in this role will play a crucial role in supporting leadership by identifying and executing on M&A and structured transactions, informing deal and business strategy, and leading valuation analysis and due diligence processes.
Responsibilities:
The Energy Investment Analyst will have the following primary functional responsibilities:
Industry Research:
- Analyze energy markets, regulatory changes and industry trends to support strategy and business opportunity origination.
- Stay abreast of market trends, industry developments, and regulatory changes that may impact valuations.
Financial Analysis & Commercial Structuring:
- Create financial models, perform valuation analysis for generation assets to support M&A and other origination transactions
- Develop and maintain complex financial models to evaluate investment opportunities, assess project feasibility, and determine asset values
- Utilize various valuation methodologies (DCF, precedent transactions, comparable companies, etc.) to determine the fair value of assets, investments, or projects
- Identify and assess financial risks associated with energy origination and transaction strategy
- Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations to communicate valuation findings, investment recommendations, and project assessments to stakeholders
Transaction Execution:
- Identify and support M&A transactions, including JV’s
- Assist in origination, and perform quantitative analysis related to energy contracts and fuel supply
- Lead transactional due diligence processes and support throughout the deal negotiation process
- Develop broad technical skills for relevant generation technologies through self-study and internal and external training opportunities
- Prepare presentations and reports for internal and external stakeholders
To deliver on these requirements, the Energy Investment Analyst will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (finance, accounting, legal, project origination, development, environmental, regulatory, etc.) to gather information, validate assumptions, and ensure accuracy of valuations.
Baseline requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, business, or technical field
- 3-5+ years experience in energy, banking, consulting, private equity or utilities sector
- Strong understanding of energy markets and regulatory frameworks
- Advanced knowledge of MS Excel, including Financial Modeling
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA or relevant graduate degree highly desirable
- Investment Banking or Private Equity Experience highly desirable

Expected Salary Range: $ 100K-$ 150K Base plus Annual Bonus
