This position requires advanced technical skills, a solid mechanical aptitude, and the ability to work in diverse environments. Level III Installers are expected to work in a team environment and supervisor the tasks of Installer I & II to ensure quality control.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and troubleshoot telecommunications systems and data center infrastructure, including racks, cabling, and power systems.
- Test, configure, and inspect equipment using appropriate tools and materials to ensure proper installation and performance.
- Perform installations under raised floors, on ladders, or in tight spaces while maintaining safety and precision.
- Lead project teams on site and coordinate with customers to meet project timelines.
- Follow electrical schematics, safety protocols, and customer-specific requirements during installation.
- Mentor and provide on-the-job training to Level I and Level II installers.
- Prepare reports and documentation using Word, Excel, and other business software.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and customer-specific regulations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Minimum 4-6 years of experience as a Level II Installer.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and proficiency with power tools.
- Knowledge of basic electrical theory and the ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet-based applications; ability to quickly learn new business systems.
- Clean driving record and criminal background; ability to pass a drug screening.
- Familiarity with test equipment and tools used in telecommunications installation and maintenance.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds.
- Required to work from ladders, under raised floors, and in confined spaces.
- Ability to distinguish colors for cable and wiring identification.
- Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Will spend approximately 10% of time at a desk, with frequent walking, standing, kneeling, crawling, and climbing required.
Work Environment:
- Noise levels in the work environment are generally moderate.
- Must be comfortable working in both office and on-site data center environments.
- Periodically exposed to high or precarious places during installation activities.
Credentials and Experience:
- 7-10 years of installation experience in Central Office, Data Center, MTSO, or a similar technical environment.
