Title: Additive Manufacturing Engineer

The Additive Manufacturing Engineer plays a pivotal role in the aerospace and additive manufacturing sectors. They engage directly with clients, transforming their concepts into tangible products. This position involves participating in early-stage sales discussions, refining customer requirements, and generating proposals. Leveraging expertise in additive manufacturing (AM) and cutting-edge software, the engineer optimizes customer designs for printability and performance. This role collaborates extensively with various teams internally, including program managers, materials engineers, technicians, and company leadership.
Key Job Responsibilities / Results:
- Conduct research to understand end users' needs through interactions with sales and clients, potentially involving travel to trade shows and customer sites.
- Optimize part files to improve printability, post-processing, and functionality.
- Develop build layouts and files for various laser powder bed fusion printing equipment.
- Enhance organizational competencies in AM process simulation, topology optimization, and generative design, including software assessment and acquisitions.
- Design support structures and machining plans for product realization using additive and subtractive methods.
- Collaborate with the CNC machining team to estimate full CNC and AM/CNC hybrid projects.
- Support the quoting process by providing build time, machining time, and other necessary information for accurate quotes.
- Participate actively in team problem-solving, process improvement, and decision-making.
- Lead internal initiatives to enhance quoting, design, or manufacturing workflows.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to colleagues as required.

Required Skills and Experience:
- Previous experience in additive manufacturing.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, AM build file preparation, generative design, topology optimization, and/or process simulation.
- Familiarity with manufacturing/CNC machining processes.
- Eligibility to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
