The Operations Manager is responsible for the efficiency of the production, maintenance, manufacturing, and quality assurance functions in our plant. This experienced leader will coordinate the plant’s manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with company objectives, quality systems, and customer expectations. The ideal candidate will be exceptionally detail oriented and able to lead a team, serving as liaison between plant workers and upper management. This role is dedicated to achieving operational excellence and to be successful you will have a genuine interest in helping the company succeed.
- Implement strategic improvements for production, quality, and labor utilization throughout the plant.
- Provide leadership to ensure effective utilization of plant personnel and equipment.
- Collaborate with functional departments in the implementation of improvements.
- Investigate and implement innovative manufacturing processes to reduce costs and improve product quality.
- Apply lean manufacturing principles in designing, specifying, and validating manufacturing processes that achieve organizational goals.
- Assist in planning, organizing, directing, and running optimum day-to-day operations to exceed our customers’ expectations.
- Prepares capital budgets to support the overall business plan.
- Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards.
- Be responsible for production output, product quality and on-time shipping.
- Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to produce optimal results.
- Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus.
- Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions; commit to plant safety procedures.
- Share a trusting relationship with the employees and partner with Human Resources to manage and develop plant employees.
- Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics, and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets.
- Create documentation protocols and ensure that all records of operations are properly maintained and reviewed.
- Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts.
- Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complies with legal and ethical requirements.
Qualifications:
- At least 3-5 years of experience and success in a machine shop, tool & die operations and/or manufacturing engineering leadership
- Bachelor’s degree in operations management, business, or engineering is highly preferred.
- Experience in international business operations is a plus.
- Highly proficient in business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, resource allocation, lean management, and human resources).
- Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise.
- Knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory, and stewardship processes.
- Must be able to build, maintain and contribute to a team environment; leads by example and demonstrates servant leadership; resolves problems in a respectful manner.
- Excellent organizational skills, able to multi-task and clearly communicate goals and expectations.
