We are currently seeking a Department Manager to oversee the Water/Wastewater Engineering Group for this client and for their Buffalo office. This leadership position plays a crucial role in coordinating project work with water/wastewater leaders and the technical team. Responsibilities include scheduling project teams, coordinating team commitments and deadlines, managing utilization, technical training, quality, and mentoring/coaching technical professionals. This role serves as a liaison between company management and technical team efforts. In addition to management responsibilities, this Department Manager will serve as both a technical lead and project manager for medium to large-scale study, design, and construction projects involving water and wastewater treatment, storage, pumping, and distribution/collection systems.
Responsibilities:
- Become a trusted advisor to established water and wastewater clients and assist the sales team in developing and securing new project work.
- Diagnose, analyse, and implement treatment process improvements.
- Optimize treatment plant operation systems, including pre-treatment, filtration, chemical disinfection, residuals, and energy systems.
- Conduct asset evaluation and related long-term capital planning.
- Perform hydraulic modelling of treatment system processes and storage systems.
- Provide water and wastewater expertise in critical situations to utility staff.
- Represent the Water/Wastewater Group within the organization to corporate management.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering or related fields.
- Current PE license is required.
- 10+ years of experience in the water and/or wastewater discipline.
- Proficient in MS Office.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites and client meetings.
- Occasional overnight travel required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Previous team leadership, management experience, and mentoring skills.

Salary Range: $140,000-$180,000
