Senior Consultant / Group Leader – Energy and Utility Economics & Policy
As part of our business-building practice efforts, Sequence has been exclusively retained to recruit a senior consultant to join one of the nation’s leading niche consulting firms specializing in the analysis of economic, statistical, financial, and accounting issues that arise in the regulation for public policy associated with utility and energy companies.
This is currently the highest-profile opportunity of its kind here in the United States. An opportunity to join a thriving consulting practice and progress to practice and organizational leadership.
Our client works with consumer counsels, attorneys general, commissions, and commission staff across the United States and North America. They have extensive experience with regulatory and policy issues in the natural gas and electric power industries. This goes beyond just regulated energy utilities and includes the analysis of upstream oil and gas production; midstream processing, pipeline, and storage issues; petrochemical and industry infrastructure development issues; and emerging issues in renewable and alternative energy and energy efficiency.
The firm also often advises legislative delegations and administrative and regulatory agency associations – serving as a partner and economic think tank, including engaging in a wide range of traditional regulatory analyses such as cost of service, rate design, fuel procurement practices, financial analyses, cost-effectiveness analyses, jurisdictional and class cost of service analyses, revenue requirements, affiliate relationships/transactions, gas and fuel procurement practices, pro-forma adjustments, accounting issues, mergers and acquisitions, forecasting, revenue distribution, infrastructure replacement programs, performance evaluation and benchmarking, incentive and performance-based regulation, and renewable and distributed energy.
With this in mind, leadership has tasked us with finding a dynamic professional to engage with state or federal regulatory agencies, energy companies, and utility companies supporting company service offerings This will often include engaging in economic impact analysis and cost-benefit analysis aspects coupled with litigation support or even public policy recommendations development.
This could be the ideal role for a mid-level professional with experience in business, economic, regulatory, or public policy, and other analytical disciplines in energy, public utility or natural resources. It would also be the perfect role for a seasoned senior-level individual looking to find a long-term home with a growing and stable organization where they could potentially gain ownership interest.
The company believes that People are its most important asset. The company has a corporate culture that values individuals as resources. The organization has loyal employees who have been with the firm for many years. They have watched it grow from a fledgling organization to one that has developed and built global operations. Their approach is to solicit – indeed to expect – input from each of its employees. They tell us that they foster an atmosphere of mutual respect and encourage the free exchange of ideas to remain a vibrant, thriving company. Leadership believes that this unique culture has resulted in the company having some of the industry's most engaged employees.
This carries over to benefits as well as rewards for hard work. Beyond salary and bonus/commissions based on performance and metrics, this full-time direct hire position offers a strong benefits plan, including medical/dental/vision, 401k, life insurance, bonus, profit sharing, vacation and sick leave, etc. The roles require occasional travel to varied client sites within the region but are primarily local regarding daily efforts (unlikely to be overnight away from home on numerous occasions).
