Position Overview:
The Whole Loan Analyst will play an essential part in PHOENIX’s transaction execution, including further development and re-tooling of our existing data ingestion process. The main role of the Whole Loan Analyst will be to review and cleanse residential and commercial whole loan data for our account executives to present to whole loan buyers. As a member of the Whole Loan Transaction Management team, the analyst will work directly with our account executives to identify missing or incomplete data, log bids from buyers, and perform detailed pricing analyses on live whole loan offerings. Other trading activities will include reviewing and understanding whole loan due diligence results and documents, compiling pricing data, and creating pricing reports for use by our sales and valuation teams.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
· Become an expert in understanding and analyzing residential and commercial loan characteristics
· Learn the CAS software (Collateral Analysis System from the Carlisle Group). Become an expert in importing/exporting data, scripting, data integrity, and reporting
· Further develop and refine PHOENIX’s existing whole loan data ingestion process (create and manage data edits, create buyer specific import templates, etc.). Analyst will utilize Excel, CAS, Snowflake, SQL, and Sigma
· Process loan data (from Excel files) for PHOENIX’s market distribution and produce reporting of missing data points necessary to obtain bids
· Tracking and organization of all bid pricing received on trades out to market
· Produce reporting for all weekly/monthly/quarterly market trading activity for account executives and trade desk
· Perform pricing analyses for live deals presented for investment consideration
· Perform review of borrower payment histories to reconcile borrower cash remittances and produce payment delinquency string
· Prepare and perform general industry and market analyses (e.g., synthesize complex data, trends, analyses, etc. from a variety of sources and formats into thorough but concise reporting for internal and external purposes)
Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:
· Advanced Excel experience required. CAS, Snowflake, SQL, Sigma or other advanced database management/reporting tools a plus
· Analyst should have excellent written and verbal communication skills and keen ability to collaborate with various teams. This role will entail working with account executives and transaction managers and will require the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding work environment
· Understanding of the loan origination process, interest rates, and general financial market conditions preferred
· Detail oriented with clear ability to connect dots across multiple data sources and market conditions
· Strong analytic abilities, financial aptitude, and attention to detail
· Comfortable with the expectations and opportunities that come with working for a smaller, merit-based, entrepreneurial organization
· Self-starter with the ability to move forward and make decisions absent complete information
Education & Experience:
· Undergraduate degree in Finance, Financial Modeling, MIS, Accounting, or a related field preferred. Advanced degree a plus
· 0-2+ years of mortgage industry experience
· Experience with CAS, Snowflake, and scripting highly valued
· Experience with Whole Loan Trading, MSR Trading, and discounted cashflow modeling a plus
Physical Requirements:
· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, working on a computer, and being available and responsive via email/phone/messaging.
· Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
· (If applicable to role) Travel to meet with clients or potential clients and/or to represent the company at conferences will be required on occasion or as needed.
