Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Marine Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining marine engines, electrical systems, and related equipment to ensure vessels operate at optimal performance. This position requires a strong understanding of marine mechanics, technical expertise, and the ability to work in various weather conditions.
Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on marine engines (inboard, outboard, and diesel) and related systems (fuel, hydraulic, electrical).
- Inspect, test, and troubleshoot engines, propulsion systems, cooling systems, steering mechanisms, and transmissions to identify mechanical issues.
- Conduct preventative maintenance, including oil changes, filter replacements, and system flushes, following manufacturer guidelines.
- Install, adjust, and calibrate parts and equipment such as fuel lines, filters, belts, water pumps, and other marine components.
- Collaborate with service team members to manage repair timelines, ensure quality, and communicate progress to clients.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and service activities.
- Adhere to safety guidelines and environmental regulations in handling chemicals, fuels, and other hazardous materials.
- Utilize diagnostic tools and software to enhance accuracy and efficiency in problem-solving.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED; certification in marine technology or related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a Marine Mechanic, with strong knowledge of marine engine repair and maintenance.
- Proficiency with marine diagnostic equipment and tools.
- Solid understanding of electrical systems, schematics, and hydraulic systems.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and withstand various weather conditions.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills for client interactions and team collaboration.
