Position Summary
As part of the Joint Clinical Genomics Initiative within Weill Cornell Medicine, this role plays a pivotal role to establish, implement, update, and maintain a clinical Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) in compliance with New York State Department of Health requirements and CAP/CLIA requirements. The role demands extensive hands-on technical expertise such as programming, scripting, and server technologies, and operates within a multidisciplinary team, including various IT groups, to support the clinical laboratories.
Job Responsibilities
- Manages implementation of periodic LIMS software updates.
- Collaborates with software engineering team to translate user requirements into LIMS software enhancements.
- Creates LIMS workflows through LIMS workflow configuration representing physical lab processes.
- Leads user acceptance testing for the LIMS and defines acceptance criteria for the Lab.
- Serves as the first point of contact for LIMS technical assistance with the ability to troubleshoot issues or problems.
- Serves as the LIMS subject matter expert between different groups (Lab, IT, Computational Biology).
- Ensures compliance with LIMS change management procedures.
- Trains end users on the use of the LIMS.
- Develops custom reports in the LIMS per lab specifications.
- Performs LIMS Administration activities such as user management and system maintenance.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education
Experience
Bachelors in Computer Science/Processing Engineering or equivalent. Masters Degree is preferred.
Minimum of 2 years related experience with emphasis in systems requirements development in a LIMS environment.
Experience with developing comprehensive requirement specifications for complex systems/applications and a track record of successfully leading implementation efforts for complex scientific/technology complex projects.
Familiar with lab systems, integration techniques, and web services with understanding and exposure specifically to LIMS concepts, phases and deliverables.
Experience with validation or qualification procedures for customized software.
Experience with common CAP/CLIA New York State laboratory terminology, processes and procedures or familiarity with other regulatory/QA guidelines.
Firm grasp of system/application architecture and concepts
Experience in the use, configuration, and customization of a LIMS.
Familiarity with Sapio Exemplar LIMS is highly preferred.
Experience building custom reports in a LIMS is desired.
