Linux Cloud Architect/Senior Linux Cloud Engineer
13 Months Contract
New York; NY (4 Days a Week ONSITE)
Overview:
Seeking a Cloud DevOps Engineer with Linux Administration skills. A hands-on role in architecture, design, implementation, and management of cloud infrastructure - along with Linux administration.
Responsibilities
- Perform Linux System Administration tasks such as installation, configuration, and maintenance
- Design and manage scalable cloud infrastructure ensuring high availability and performance
- Automate software installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting for cloud deployments
- Monitor infrastructure, application performance and troubleshooting issues as they arise
- Ensure compliance with departmental and enterprise security standards
- Assess vulnerabilities, identify and implement a mitigation plan
- Develop, automate and test procedures for backup, failover, and disaster recovery
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architect to translate cloud strategies into detailed designs and Proof of Concepts (PoC)
- Automate routine operational tasks
- Work closely with development and operation teams to optimize performance and efficiency
Basic Qualifications
- 15+ years of IT experience with a minimum of 5+ years of hands-on experience configuring and automating private, public, and hybrid cloud architecture
- Proficiency in AWS and OCI platforms, with a strong understanding of networking, security, workload types, migration patterns, and associated tools
- 10+ years of hands-on experience in Linux administration, particularly in RHEL and Oracle Enterprise Linux (OEL), with a deep understanding of Linux internals
- Strong experience in Docker and Kubernetes configuration for containerization & orchestration
- 5+ years of experience in Ansible, CloudFormation, and Terraform for automating infrastructure provisioning and management
- Extensive experience (5+ years) implementing CI/CD pipelines using GitLab or Jenkins, enhancing software delivery processes
- Strong scripting skills in Bash and Python for automation, monitoring, and management tasks
- Familiarity with networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and strong knowledge of security best practices, including firewalls and intrusion detection systems
- Experience with programming languages including Java; Node.js is a plus
- Good understanding of distributed systems and ecosystems related to big data

Compensation:
The estimated pay range for this position is USD $85.00/hr - $91.50/hr and is an Exempt role.
