Operations Manager – Hydrogen Fueling Stations
Job Summary:
As an Operations Manager for hydrogen fueling stations, you will be responsible for the overall management and operations of our hydrogen fueling stations located throughout Southern and Northern California. Your primary objective will be to ensure efficient and safe fueling operations while delivering exceptional customer service. You will lead a team of hydrogen fueling station technicians to maintain compliance with regulatory standards and achieve operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of multiple fueling stations
- Work with Maintenance Manager to implement and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for fueling, maintenance, and inventory management
- Work with the HSE Manager to train the technician team on and enforce all safety policies and procedures
- Coordinate maintenance activities scheduled by the Maintenance Manager (PMs, CMs, and compliance tasks) to ensure they are completed correctly and on time
- Hire, direct, and audit the work of contractors at the stations for services such as security, internet access, pets control, hazardous waste, safety compliance, gardening, and equipment maintenance
- Assist with planning and execution of reliability improvement projects initiated by the engineering team
- Ensure the team completes all assigned daily rounds and check-sheets
- Excellent prioritization, organization and delegation skills. Ability to follow through and push open items through to conclusion
- Create and present station performance metrics (uptime, sales, fill percentage), analyze performance data, and identify areas for improvement
- Resolve operational issues promptly and effectively to minimize disruptions and ensure seamless operations
- Responsible for the Station Property Owner relationships and all Commercial matters for all stations, including but not limited to:
o Lease negotiations and compliance with terms and conditions and lease renewals
o Dispute resolutions
o Building strong rapport
Team Leadership:
- Recruit, train, and mentor hydrogen fueling station technicians and support staff
- Set performance expectations, provide feedback, and conduct regular performance evaluations
- Ensure the entire operations team follows company policies, safety regulations, and local, state, and federal laws
- Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, collaboration, and employee development
- Conduct regular team meetings to communicate goals, targets, and operational updates
- Address employee concerns, conflicts, and disciplinary issues in a fair and timely manner
Customer Service Excellence:
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by delivering exceptional service standards
- Develop and maintain customer service protocols, ensuring prompt and courteous resolution of customer issues
- Monitor customer feedback, reviews, and ratings to identify trends and implement improvements
- Implement marketing initiatives to attract and retain customers, drive sales, and increase customer loyalty
- Communicate station status to the public through the Station Operational Status System (SOSS)
Compliance and Safety:
- Responsible for ensuring all stations are in full compliance with required elements of permits, business licenses and state agency requirements. All documents must be kept current and maintained within the COE:
o DMS, Weights and Measurements
o Conditional Use Permits with City
o Business licenses
o Fire and Safety permits
- Maintain records, reports, and documentation related to compliance and safety measures
- Conduct onsite safety observations and audits
- Coordinate with relevant authorities and agencies for inspections, permits, and licenses.
- Act as Point of Contact with Hydrogen Fuel Cell Partnership
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering or a related field (or equivalent work experience)
5+ years of experience in operations management in one of the following industries – hydrogen fueling or production, CNG fueling, Oil &Gas, petrochemical, industrial gas, or field service & repair of heavy machinery
Strong knowledge of industrial operations and maintenance best practices, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance
Knowledge of OSHA regulations for Lock-out / Tag-out, Hazardous Work Permit, and Confined Space Entry
Experience operating facilities that require compliance with OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) is preferred
Excellent leadership and people management skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
High proficiency in using computer systems and software for reporting and analysis including MS Office
Flexibility to travel to fueling stations as required
