Test Engineer
SLPT Automotive is searching for a Test Engineer to work closely with the global Mechanical Engineering and Software Development team to help develop new electro-mechanical products. You will be accountable for developing motor control systems with software and interfacing with customers to grow the SLPT business worldwide.
General Description of Duties:
Support design, development, production launch, testing and maintenance of SLPT components, assemblies, or systems for the automotive market. Generally, functions in support of testing and product development programs. Capable of demonstrating good problem-solving skills and strong analytical skills. Demonstrates characteristics that foster team progress, the initiative to take on challenging assignments and the ability to create opportunities where none exists.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
1. Execute and support daily testing in all aspects of project development phases, design, prototype, DV, PV, warranty, and production in accordance with test plans, procedures, and specifications.
2. Planning, coordinating, and management of projects and test processes to ensure the highest levels of test quality and customer satisfaction.
3. Development and follow test procedures and continue the improvement of standard work instructions to support the set-up and execution of testing.
4. Work with cross functional teams to launch and improve new and current products to meet corporate goals.
6. Develop or use computer software and hardware to conduct tests on machinery and equipment.
7. Prepare recommendations for testing and documentation of procedures to be used for the product design phase through to initial production.
8. Responsible for ensuring effective testing is conducted on time / first time.
9. Analyze and interpret test data and prepares high level technical reports for use by engineering and management personnel.
10. Ensure that all necessary equipment and software is properly maintained and calibrated for repeatability and accurate testing.
11. Develop automated test scripts tailored to in-house and or customer requirements to execute testing of UUT.
12. Lead and support implementation of design concepts from component design through finished assembly. This would include analysis, concept sketching, dimensional verification, and general demonstration of the use of core engineering disciplines.
13. Develop design concepts through prototype hardware procurement, assembly, test, data analysis and design refinement. Should be able to develop designs in CAD. This may include some direction of technical support personnel.
14. Lead lab testing practices that are used to verify and validate the design concepts to meet specification requirements for function, environmental compatibility, reliability, and durability.
15. Support customer interface activities including phone, electronic and personal communication as necessary to support development, production release and maintenance of products. This would include professional representation of SLPT in all areas of possible customer presence.
16. Support division-wide cost reduction and containment initiatives.
17. Support plant Quality and Manufacturing teams to manage supplier and internal design deviation and improvement requests.
18. Support completion of special assignments and other duties as required.
19. Responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining electrical products, systems, and equipment for various purposes and applications.
20. Prepares project specifications, requisitions, engineering designs and project timelines for existing and new equipment purchase.
21. Responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining electrical products, systems, and equipment for various purposes and applications. Recognize, define and solve problems/opportunities to achieve unit objectives.
Technical Specifications and Qualifications:
Education/Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical, preferred)
Experience in SLPT components or systems; 7+ years preferred
Experience with general office computer tools desired (Office 365, Project)
Strong Knowledge of LabView and LabView and PLC programming
Experience with LIN and CAN communication protocols
Experience with lab debug equipment, such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers
