Job Description

The Director of Capacity, Efficiency, and Forecasting Engineering is a critical leadership position within LinkedIn’s engineering organization. This role is responsible for comprehensively understanding the end-to-end capacity needs of our ecosystem, ensuring efficiency through the application of industry best practices. The director will collaborate closely with engineering teams to develop both long-term and annual forecasts, providing clear predictability for finance and supply chain planning. Additionally, this role will establish transparent cost accounting for each application up to each business unit, enabling informed and strategic business decisions.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate across the rest of engineering leadership and infrastructure leadership to drive high availability of the wider site capacity and forecasting needs and drive a culture of efficiency for LinkedIn’s overall ecosystem.
Be a role model and professional coach for engineers and managers. Help them realize their potential by setting clear expectations, openly evaluating performance, upholding accountability, and providing challenges (within and outside their team) to stretch their skills.
Participate with senior management in co-developing a long-term product reliability and technology road map.
Drive and own improvements in end-to-end infrastructure and systems
Be the domain expert who follows industry trends and applies best practices
Contribute to the hiring and development of talented leaders and engineers ranging from junior to senior levels of experience.
Build effective partnerships with the development, infrastructure, and product teams.
Lead cross-organizational projects to ensure teams deliver on time and at a high-quality bar, by proactively aligning resources and processes, mitigating risks, and making tradeoffs by taking intelligent risks.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related domain.
5+ years managing teams of 40+ engineers.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience attracting, retaining, and developing engineering and operations talent throughout the industry.
Experience in building infrastructure products with a deep understanding of driving capacity and efficiency in these spaces.
Experience with the full lifecycle of building, deploying, and maintaining a large scale ecosystem.
Experience in building a strategic roadmap and leading through change.
Experience managing through leaders / leads to drive outcomes for the business.
5+ years in a large-scale web application infrastructure leadership position.
4+ years experience in one of the following areas - performance engineering, capacity engineering, developer productivity engineering, and web engineering.

The pay range for this role is $218,000 to $357,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
