In this role you will
- end-user documentation (user guides, getting started guides, support FAQs, reference material) for cloud-based software applications.
- information architecture principles to design online documentation that meets the needs of multiple audiences at various stages in the learning cycle using a single content repository.
- communicate how to accomplish user tasks, rather than how to use the user interface.
- research and hands-on learning, become an expert on our products and methodologies.
- with Product, Support, and other internal teams to understand customer needs and create content that allows users to be self-sufficient.
- subject matter experts to learn how product features work and understand their benefits to users.
- with software to learn how it functions from an end-user point of view.
The Contract Technical Writer should have the following skills:
- years working on software documentation projects
- DITA XML, Madcap Flare, any structured authoring tool; and CMS
- writing and communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts in a way that non-technical people can understand.
- self-starter, pro-active in asking questions and resolving issues with subject matter experts.
- thinker who can anticipate the reader’s concerns and questions about the product.
- time management skills with the ability to estimate the effort required to complete a task and stay on schedule.
- graphics skills (Powerpoint).
- documenting APIs a plus.
- writing documentation for translation and optimizing documentation projects for translation a plus.
- with Jira and Confluence a plus.
- with digital adoption platforms such as WalkMe a plus
- with the Telecom industry a plus
