Join a dynamic team as the Director of Tax, where you'll play a crucial role in managing ultra-high-net-worth clients, guiding them through complex tax landscapes. We’re looking for someone with deep expertise in federal and state tax laws, particularly in the areas of trusts, individual taxation, pass-through entities, and federal gift and estate taxes. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential to excel in this role.
As a key leader in the organization, reporting directly to the CFO, you will head a dedicated team of eight (8) professionals in the Tax Department with a Manager overseeing their day-to-day responsibilities. You’ll collaborate with Client Advisors to deliver insightful tax projections, timely alerts, comprehensive summaries, and strategic advice. Your primary focus will be on building sophisticated tax models, drafting federal and state tax alerts, and preparing detailed tax planning presentations.
Educational Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a strong academic record.
- Master’s degree in Taxation or a Juris Doctor (JD) is preferred, though not required.
- CPA certification is mandatory.
Experience Requirements:
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, ideally with a background in a Big Four accounting firm.
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws, especially in relation to trusts, individuals, pass-through entities, and gift and estate taxes.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, SharePoint, and OneDrive.
- Familiarity with tax preparation software like CCH and Thomson Reuters.
- Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills.
