We are looking for engineer developing the cutting-edge database system to extend the territory of database management. Based on the co-design of software and hardware systems, we are building PolarDB, a high-performance cloud database service, by taking advantage of architectures of modern CPU, memory and storage. Not only do we want to drive Alibaba’s fast-growing business, but we also allow more enterprise customers to minimize the effort required to build highly concurrent and scalable systems for their business.
- Leverage database internals expertise to implement changes to the Database kernel.
- Work with other teams and components that interacts with the database kernel.
- Drive all stages of development, including design, implement, test, release.
- Work with reliability engineers on feature monitoring, production and reporting.
Minimum qualification
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• Experience in DB related development.
• Proficiency in multi-threading and network programming on Linux, with deep experience in one or more relevant languages (C, C++).
• Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, database and distributed systems.
• Self-motivated and open-minded, passionate with new technologies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred qualification
- Masters or Ph.D. in CS preferred
- experience in SQL / Database / storage / OS kernel
- experience in MySQL, PostgreSQL, HBase, RocksDB, MongoDB or similar
- experience with high availability, low latency designs, and parallel/horizontal scale-out database architectures.
- experience with tools Git, C++, Python, GDB, Python, STL or similar
The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $133,200 and $219,600/year. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
