Overview:
The W2 Contract School Psychologist will be responsible for delivering a full range of psychological services in a school setting, including individual and group counseling, psycho-educational assessments, crisis intervention, and consultation with teachers, parents, and administrators. This role involves supporting students' social, emotional, and academic development while ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations regarding special education services.
Responsibilities:
Psycho-Educational Assessments and Evaluations:
- Conduct assessments of students referred for learning and behavioral difficulties.
- Use standardized tools to evaluate cognitive, emotional, social, and academic functioning.
- Write comprehensive reports summarizing findings and recommendations.
Consultation and Collaboration:
- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop effective strategies for student support.
- Participate in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings to provide expertise and recommend appropriate interventions.
- Provide insights on behavioral management, instructional practices, and social-emotional learning.
Intervention and Counseling Services:
- Deliver individual and group counseling sessions focused on social skills, stress management, and behavioral adjustment.
- Develop and implement intervention plans for students dealing with behavioral or emotional challenges.
- Conduct crisis intervention as needed, supporting students during emotionally challenging times.
Prevention and Skill Building:
- Design and implement school-wide programs addressing bullying, peer relationships, and mental health awareness.
- Promote positive behavior support and preventive measures to foster a safe and inclusive learning environment.
Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records in compliance with district, state, and federal regulations.
- Submit reports on assessments, services provided, and progress evaluations for each student.
- Monitor compliance with IEP goals and state education standards.
Training and Professional Development:
- Lead training sessions for teachers and staff on identifying at-risk students, crisis intervention, and classroom management.
- Stay current with trends in educational psychology and related fields, maintaining certifications as required.
Qualifications:
Education: Master’s or Doctoral degree in School Psychology or a related field.
Certification: Valid School Psychologist license/certification in California.
Experience: At least one year of experience as a School Psychologist (school setting preferred).
