Job Description
My AmLaw 200 client is looking for a Conflicts Attorney to join their team in Boston! The Conflicts Attorney is responsible for assisting the Office of General Counsel, Conflicts and New Business Intake Department with analyzing conflicts in legal matters, advising clients on solutions, and negotiating on behalf of clients.
- Analyze intake requests for both existing and new business, including engagement letters; conflict reports, identifying potential conflict situations;
- Review Conflicts Questionnaires submitted by lawyer and staff candidates, and communicate with candidates regarding additional questions and clarifications;
- Conduct thorough analysis on lateral matter lists to identify actual and potential conflicts of interest;
- Procure, review and draft waiver letters and engagement letters from appropriate attorneys as deemed necessary;
- Confirm need and establish ethical walls to screen individuals from particular clients and matters as part of conflict clearing process;
- Answer queries from professional staff across the Firm concerning conflict checks and processes;
- Communicate orally and in writing with Firm attorneys and propose, coordinate and document resolutions; and
- Liaise with General Counsel; lateral recruiting department; and other Firm attorneys to identify business conflict issues and review and approve conflicts forms as necessary.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctorate degree and active member of the Bar in good standing;
- Database searching experiencing and knowledge of iManage, IntApp Intake; Aderant; and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word);
- Requires ability to oversee and supervise staff members, as needed by the Department.
- Methodological approach to work with a strong focus on accuracy, attention to detail, consistency and good decision-making skills required.
- Experience with analyzing conflicts of interest and the law of conflicts of interest.
- Strong technological skills, knowledge of conflicts clearance and ethical screening software preferred.
- Aptitude for learning new systems, including ability to participate in discussions about design of existing or new system based on departmental and firm needs.
Compensation ranges from $120,000 - $140,000 base.
