PRIMARY SUMMARY:
This role plans, organizes, and directs Quality Assurance department activities to ensure quality standards intended for the company are maintained. Maintains surveillance of the overall activities of the company that have a direct or indirect effect on the quality of products produced and sold by the company.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Directly responsible for the development, updating, and control of the Quality Management System
• Ensure that new and revised customer and regulatory quality requirements are incorporated within the system as required and followed.
• Responsible for the proper communication of the Quality Management System changes, including but not limited to training personnel on new or revised requirements or systems.
• Directs the activities of the Quality Manager, Quality Supervisors and Quality Engineers. Provides technical expertise and guidance regarding day-to-day activities and quality initiatives.
• Works with top and middle-level management to initiate actions necessary to ensure that customer, statutory, and regulatory requirements are fulfilled.
• Responsible for the organization and supervision of Quality, Engineering, Inspection, and Laboratory staff.
• Monitors competency and organization of the personnel whose activities affect product quality within in quality organization.
• Ensures the quality, clarity, accuracy, and control of Quality, Manufacturing, and Engineering documents that govern the products being produced.
• Ensures that procedures used in the purchasing of materials, supplies, and services related to product quality comply with company and contractual requirements.
• Maintains the metrics and manages supplier and vendor performance as established in the Quality Management System and best practices.
• Responsible for coordinating and facilitating the resolution of quality concerns and issues. Key focal and site leader of the management team during a quality crisis and deploys quality crisis tools to manage the incident.
• Evaluate and recommend laboratory equipment upgrades and purchases.
• Responds to customer inquiries regarding product quality inquiries.
• Leads root cause analysis and corrective action on product quality issues.
• Implements corporate-wide Quality initiatives and provides monthly quality metrics to support US and LISI Aerospace group reporting.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly supervises Quality Supervisor(s) and Quality Engineers. Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the Quality Department.
Manages assigned areas of responsibility in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Managerial responsibilities include but are not limited to interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree required in a related field with a minimum of 10 years of directly related experience.
• Quality Management experience in a related field
• Preferred CQE and/or CQA certified
• Six Sigma - Green Belt certified highly desired. Strong drafting skills, excellent problem-solving skills, and ability to work within a team. Lean Six Sigma preferred
• Knowledge of manufacturing methods, metallurgy, Quality system Design, documentation
• Quality Management System Development and Implementation
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic ERP system knowledge and be well-versed in computer office applications such as Spreadsheets, Databases, and Word Processing software
Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret industry technical documents. Ability to respond to inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Mathematical Skills:
Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, Statistical Process Control (SPC), Six Sigma, correlation techniques, and sampling theory.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Certificates, licenses, registrations:
Evidence of “US person” is required under ITAR.

The BG Quality Director guarantees the coordination of product quality and safety at the BG level and supports the deployment of the Product Safety Management System roadmap at the BG level. Participate in qualification policies (NADCAP, AS9100 scope, etc.) and quality progress objectives
