Key Responsibilities and Duties:
- Serve as lead attorney to oversee the whole process of a range of immigration related litigation matters from intake to completion
- Represent clients in immigration proceeding for Master and Individual hearings
- Handle an active docket of cases defending the Immigration and Nationality Act and the executive immigration policies in district and appellate court
- Attend USCIS interviews, including but not limited to, Adjustment of Status, Stokes, I-751, and Naturalization interviews
- Prepare and file motions, joint motions, evidence, and other correspondence with the Immigration Court and Office of the Chief Counsel
- File Notices of Appeal and Appellate briefs with the Board of Immigration Appeals
- Research and draft legal petitions
- Prepare and litigate SIJS petitions before the New York Family Courts
- Supervise and train junior associates and support staff
- Monitor and report to partners on the status of the case handled by the support personnel
Qualifications and Skills:
- J.D. degree required
- Admitted to any State Bar required (NY preferred)
- Minimum of two years of immigration court complex litigation experience required
- Federal Circuit Courts (1st to 11th) Admission a plus
- Bilingual in Spanish and English a plus
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, oral and written communication skills
- Outstanding time management to oversee large docket of cases
