The Food Lab Technician executes corporate and plant-specific Food Safety, Quality, and Laboratory requirements. The tecnician reports to QA Manager.
Direct-hire -Pleasant Prairie, WI
Shifts: 5am-5pm Sun-Tues OR Thurs-Sat (every other Wednesday for either)
5pm-5am Sun-Tues OR Thurs-Sat (every other Wednesday for either)
Pay: $20-24/hr plus a $4/hr shift premium for nights
Job Duties:
- Ensure all food safety and quality parameters are being adhered to and maintained throughout the facility.
- Assist with batching chemicals/ingredients for production.
- Calibrate lab and line equipment for accurate results.
- Collect in-process and finished product samples.
- Conduct standardized qualitative and quantitative testing to ensure it meets specifications.
- Perform aseptic testing for microbial contamination.
- Follow protocols for documenting testing results.
- Recognize deficiencies and initiate proper follow-up.
- Identify and isolate products that do not meet standards.
- Aid in troubleshooting deficiencies and non-conformances.
- Review food safety and quality records.
- Actively participate in plant teams (HACCP, Safety, etc.)
- Conduct other duties as assigned by management.
Work Experience:
2+ years of experience in food processing within the quality department
*experience may include a combination of work experience and education
Competencies:
- Able to read, write, and communicate in English.
- Able to work 12-hour shift
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Able to follow GMPs
- Able to work under pressure in a very fast-paced environment
- Able to obtain HACCP, SQF practitioner, and IBWA certification (within 1 year).
- Able to perform root cause analysis.
- Able to communicate and work well with people on all levels of the organization.
- Able to receive, analyze and report out information efficiently.
- Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) – ability to follow laboratory SOPs.
- Knowledge of Good Documentation Practices (GDPs) - ability to keep proper records.
- Strong computer literacy – MS applications, databases.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills - ability to analyze large amounts of data and determine deficiencies.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
