Responsibilities include:
· Opening, maintaining, and closing client files
· Ensuring deadlines are calendared and met
· Court filings (e-filing)
· Research and analyze Civil Procedure Rules and local court rules, ensure compliance
· Prepare documents, exhibits, litigation binders; depending on experience and ability, may draft legal documents
· Scheduling
· Communications as directed; ensure communications are maintained in the client file
· Filing, copying, other administrative tasks
· Other responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
· Three or more years of experience as a Legal Assistant, ideally in litigation
· Thoroughness in work; excellent attention to detail and follow through is required for success
· Willingness to do anything, no job below them (i.e. filing, electronic filing, reviewing correspondence carefully, calendaring)
· A propensity for electronic communication and electronic document management
· An ability to prioritize and juggle multiple, concurrent matters and activities while maintaining a calm presence
· An ability to work well and communicate with different types of people, both internally and externally (clients, staff, and attorneys)
· Willingness to take on tough assignments and be resourceful
· A highly organized working process, attentiveness to detail, be thorough in work activities, yet process information quickly
· An ability and experience keeping their attorney(s) organized, including docketing, drafting, etc.
· Technology experience – Microsoft Suite, Law firm software a plus (NetDocs, JuraLaw, Coyote Analytics)
· Bachelor’s degree and/or Paralegal Certification is preferred
Compensation:
· Hourly, non-exempt (eligible for OT); consistent with Firm’s compensation structure
· Full time Legal Assistants receive full benefits package, including PTO, 10 paid holidays, 401k, and other benefits
