Job Title: Project Manager/Estimator - Substation Construction
Location: Remote (15%-20% Travel Required)

Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Project Manager/Estimator - Substation Construction to join our team and manage end-to-end project estimation and execution for substation construction projects. This remote position requires approximately 15%-20% travel for client and bid meetings, and offers a highly competitive salary of $110,000 - $130,000 with additional performance-based bonuses, profit-sharing, and a full benefits package. Key Responsibilities:
Project Estimation & Bidding
- Develop accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for substation construction projects, ensuring alignment with client requirements and company profitability goals.
- Lead pre-bid meetings, site visits, and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to gather relevant data for project estimation.
- Prepare detailed project proposals, cost breakdowns, and bid submissions that reflect the company’s standards and competitive edge.
- Collaborate closely with the procurement team to identify material, labor, and equipment costs, and ensure estimates are comprehensive and market-aligned.
Project Management
- Manage the full project lifecycle for awarded substation projects, from planning and initiation through execution and closeout.
- Develop project schedules, assign resources, and oversee timelines to ensure on-budget and on-schedule completion of all deliverables.
- Coordinate with engineering, field operations, and procurement teams to ensure project specifications, safety standards, and quality expectations are met.
- Conduct regular progress reviews, address project-related challenges, and keep clients informed of status updates, adjustments, and issue resolution.
Client Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining open and effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop and nurture strong client relationships, identifying opportunities for future work and fostering long-term partnerships.
- Represent the company in client and bid meetings, providing expertise and ensuring alignment with client expectations and project objectives.
Collaboration & Team Support
- Work cross-functionally with the project engineering, procurement, and field teams to ensure seamless project handoffs, clear communication, and alignment on scope.
- Mentor and guide junior estimators or project support staff as needed, promoting best practices in both project management and estimation.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain detailed project records, including budgets, schedules, change orders, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Prepare regular project status reports for senior leadership, including insights on project profitability, schedule adherence, and client satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- 5+ years of experience in estimating and project management within substation or utility infrastructure construction.
- Strong knowledge of substation construction processes, materials, and equipment, as well as industry standards and regulations.
- Proven experience with project cost estimation, bid preparation, and client relationship management.
- Proficiency with project management and estimating software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent organizational, time-management, and communication skills.
- Ability to travel 15%-20% for client and bid meetings.
