Shift: Mon-Fri , 3pm - 11:30pm
SUMMARY: Directs and coordinates activities in the SP department.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
30% Performs supervisory duties such as assigning and reviewing work, updating procedures, resolving issues, etc. Trains personnel on an ongoing basis. Figures production for department. Answers employee questions and provides direction. Co-ordinates schedule with the Special Pack planner on a daily basis. Makes revisions to schedule based on customer need and/or product availability.
20% Prepares schedules and coordinates activities to ensure production and quality meets specifications. Reviews orders to ensure quantity and product are correct. Makes corrections as needed. Oversees raw material spreadsheet to ensure quantity is correct.
15% Partners with the temp agency to resolve temp employee issues and to ensure there is adequate manpower in the SP department. Orders labor daily. Coach temporary employee who is unable to meet production standard and advises on-site manager if further action is to be taken. Oversees training of special pack employees.
10% Uses space, lines, and equipment efficiently in order to improve productivity. Checks build product for accuracy using specifications. Use available CI tools and resources to ensure all productivity and quality standards meet or exceed current standards.
10% Ensures KPIs are met or exceeded using current software systems. Completes the DMS board daily noting sanitation of department, errors, injuries, etc. Addresses the error with the employee so correction can be made.
10% Reviews production and operating reports and resolves problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent delays. Inspects machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
5% Attends seminars and recommends seminars or continuing education for staff. Participates in monthly safety meetings. Attends daily SP meetings with planners.
EQUIPMENT: Telephone, PC and printer, fax, photocopier, calculator, forklift, golf cart, CB radio, PC mounted touch screens, Two-way radio, and Scanner and various packaging equipment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School diploma or GED; plus two years experience as a team leader
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises up to 100 employees in the Special Pack area including temporary labor as needed. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include participating in, interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: The employee in this position reports back to the operations manager only with unusual circumstances.
DECISION MAKING: Makes decisions regarding assigning or laying off of temp staff, what jobs are being done in what order, placement of personnel, determines when order add-ons will be run. Participates in decisions regarding CI events, equipment upgrades, and working a second shift.
COMMUNICATIONS: Communicates internally with all United Facilities employees and General Mills’ employees on site. Communicates externally with Corporate Office regarding issue clarification; and security.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Knowledge using a PC, printer, and software such as Word and Excel. Ability to: operate a forklift, communicate verbally as well as in writing; maintain accurate and up to date files; manage time and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines; work well with people at various employment levels, and to work with a number of different people on a daily basis; listen to customers, understand needs, and respond appropriately; motivate staff in a supportive and positive manner, supervise employees; maintain confidentiality; and work under stressful situations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and talk or hear. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
