Operations Manager - T&D Construction
Location: Columbus, OH
Preferred Experience: Familiarity with AEP (American Electric Power) and/or Duke Energy projects
We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead Transmission and Distribution (T&D) construction projects based in Columbus, Ohio. The successful candidate will oversee construction operations, manage project timelines and budgets, and ensure that all work aligns with quality and safety standards. Experience working on projects with AEP and/or Duke Energy is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Management: Oversee all stages of T&D construction projects from planning through execution, ensuring they meet scope, schedule, and budget requirements.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and coordinate construction teams, contractors, and subcontractors, fostering a positive, productive work environment.
- Budgeting & Financial Oversight: Prepare, monitor, and control project budgets, ensuring cost-effective execution and financial accountability.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all construction practices meet industry and client standards, with a focus on safety, reliability, and efficiency.
- Client & Stakeholder Relations: Maintain effective communication with clients, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies, keeping them informed of project progress and addressing any issues that arise.
- Scheduling & Planning: Develop and manage project schedules, working closely with project planners and field supervisors to ensure timely completion.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and implement mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions to project timelines and budgets.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience: 5+ years in T&D construction project management, ideally with exposure to AEP and/or Duke Energy projects.
- Certifications: PMP, OSHA, or similar certifications are a plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in project management software and MS Office Suite; familiarity with T&D construction technologies.
- Leadership Abilities: Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills, with a focus on teamwork and operational excellence.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of industry regulations and standards related to T&D construction and safety.
Preferred Experience
- Prior work on AEP and/or Duke Energy T&D projects.
- In-depth knowledge of Ohio's regional regulations and utility landscape.
