Maintenance Supervisor (Mon-Fri-1st Shift) – Asheville, NC
The Maintenance Supervisor will ensure proper and efficient operation of the distribution center facilities and equipment, supporting the business needs with minimal interruption, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment, while maintaining / lowering cost. What You Will Do in Your Role
- Plan Staffing Schedules to ensure proper support for all shifts.
- Be a resource for education, guidance, coaching, and supervision for teams across multiple shifts.
- Responsible for developing and coordinating training, writing, and administering reviews, and coaching
- Achieve and maintain facility and service needs of the operation within budgeted parameters.
- Identify, recommend, and implement cost, service, and/or quality improvement opportunities related to your areas of responsibility.
- Oversee the Preventive Maintenance Program for DC equipment and grounds, ensuring preventive maintenance actions are completed timely and are properly documented to include labor, parts usage and any necessary information is properly documented.
- Responsible for maintaining all aspects of the facility, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatics, conveyors, and material handling equipment to ensure the proper and safe operation of equipment and related systems, as well as upkeep of the facility.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and schematics.
- Develop and maintain good cooperative working relationships with all internal business partners, management, and needs of internal customers, balancing and prioritizing of work orders.
- Interact with and coordinate vendors and suppliers as required to support the business, for both project-based and contracted services.
- Take the lead and ownership as first contact for facility and equipment-related issues and downtime resolution.
- Manage cross-functional skilled team, including payroll corrections, vacation approval, and other normal administrative activities.
- Experience in developing / managing operating budgets.
- Experience managing projects – negotiating, planning, and leading implementation.
- Willing to work weekends and off schedule hours to accommodate the needs of the business.
Essential responsibilities
- Preferred - Bachelor’s degree with concentration in Management, Industrial Maintenance, or Engineering; or 3 – 5 years of experience in Maintenance supervisory role.
- Preference given for accredited degree in mechanical, electrical, industrial, or related engineering field, and/or accredited technical training and expanded experience in the field.
- 5 years supervisory experience in a maintenance or engineering capacity preferred.
- Strong leadership, coaching and administrative skills.
- Sound knowledge and experience with basic facility systems – electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and similar. Diagnostic and tool skills required to help your team diagnose equipment and system problems as they arise to minimize downtime.
- Knowledge and Proficiency in the operation and mechanical, electrical, and controls maintenance of conveyance systems.
- Experience with building maintenance and/or construction and welding. Experience reading process flow charts, schematics, and blueprints.
- Good understanding of federal, state, local laws, regulations, rules, and codes regarding safety, to include but limited to OSHA and NFPA.
- Experience with CMMS software preferred and utilizing work order systems to track workload, parts usage, and associated labor.
- Direct experience with the operation and maintenance of assorted material handling systems and equipment (lift trucks, powered conveyor, and PC- or PLC-based automation control systems, for example)
- Ability to effectively communicate –verbally and in writing- and work with peers, associates, and all levels of management to achieve objectives
- Effective PC skills with MS Office products (Excel, Word, Project, Access). Prefer AutoCAD LT skill set
Physical Requirements:
Lift, carry, push, pull, reach, grasp, bend, and stoop for up to 8 hours at a time. Ability to work at heights (overhead conveyors, outbound trash line, sorter, etc.) by climbing stairs or ladder or use of scissor lift. Ability to work on all equipment throughout the facility – which will require the ability to bend, stoop, crawl, reach, work from knees or back to access equipment. Good hand/eye coordination. Ability to work in confined areas. Ability to work around moving machinery/equipment. Stand for duration of work shift and walk/move continuously. Adjust to climate changes; hot and cold extremes may occur in warehouse. Lift up to 60 pounds or more; some work duties require overhead lifting
