Element6 is seeking a skilled Senior Product Development Technician to join our client’s team in Glendale, WI. This role involves independently performing technical and lab work with minimal guidance from chemists or supervisors. As a key player on product development and support teams, the Senior Technician will be responsible for lab prototyping, testing, data analysis, and supporting scale-up trials. The Technician will also support test method development, measurement system analysis, and identify opportunities for process and product improvements. This role requires discretion, as it involves access to confidential formulations, engineering data, and other critical information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and mix coating formulations using laboratory mixing equipment.
- Perform drawdowns of formulations using drawdown and drying equipment.
- Test material properties and performance of coatings, adhesives, and films.
- Document results in a laboratory electronic notebook and communicate findings to the professional team.
- Assist chemists in preparing for pilot-scale coating trials.
- Apply analytical equipment and statistical tools to solve technical problems independently.
- Lead lab initiatives and manage defined projects.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory environmental, health, and safety protocols.
- Adhere to company policies regarding safety, attendance, and other guidelines.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, as well as other tasks that support lab and company goals.
Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s or associate degree in chemical/biological science or related field strongly preferred.
- Ability to acquire on-the-job knowledge in areas such as chemical formulation, material property testing, and quality tools.
- Prior laboratory experience, including documenting results accurately and writing technical reports.
- Basic statistical knowledge (mean, standard deviation, graphical analysis, hypothesis testing, and control charts).
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proficiency in reading and following written instructions.
- Basic math skills.
- Computer skills with intermediate proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
- Physical ability to lift 50 lbs. repeatedly and stand for 80% of a shift.
