The Mechanical Engineer (MCAD & ECAD) defines the mechanical and electrical interfaces required in the development of PCB Assemblies. Specifically the electro-mechanical interaction of: keep-out areas, component interferences, PCB outline drawings. The incumbent also is responsible for the component library component footprints and electrical symbols in schematics.
The Mechanical Engineer (MCAD & ECAD) will interface with Mechanical Engineering peers, Electrical Engineers, PCB designers and Operations Quality Engineers in the manufacture of PCB assemblies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with electrical engineers in the development of PCB Assemblies that have mechanical interaction, specify keep-out areas, determine component interference, and generate PCB outline drawings in ProE and files to communicate with allegro.
- Experience with FEA analysis for deflection and thermal analysis utilizing properly generated 3D models
- Solid understanding of Geometric Tolerance and design for manufacturability.
- Create component CAD geometry footprints with required dimensions from drawings on vendor component data sheets.
- Create component electrical symbols for used by Electrical Engineers for Schematic generation
- Design mechanical components and sub systems.
- Assist in sustaining engineering mechanical designs for existing products.
- Be responsible for ECO generation / Bill of Material support
- Responsible for the CAD Library including modifications to existing components or creation of new CAD elements for product development
- Interface with Electrical Design Engineers, CAD designers, Component Engineering and Manufacturing Engineers
- Ensure that component Schematic Symbols and CAD Footprints are created to LTX-Credence standards and procedures
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently on various projects
- Good Oral and Written Communication skills
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- BA degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5+ years of experience
- M-CAD Experience with 3D modeling software (Pro–e or/Solid Works) desired.
- Desired Skills (but will train):
- Experience with a PCB E-CAD tools (Cadence Allegro, Mentor, Orcad, PADS, etc)
- Ability Basic electronic knowledge including component types, characteristics and the ability to read and understand schematic interconnections
- Ability to read and understand component vendor data sheets and specifications
- Basic mechanical aptitude to create component CAD geometry footprints with required dimensions from drawings on vendor component data sheets
