Turbine and Mechanical Systems Engineer

They are seeking a Turbine and Mechanical Systems Engineer to join their team. This role involves providing technical expertise and performing Owner’s Engineer (OE) tasks for gas turbines, steam turbines, and related rotating equipment. The position spans from potential asset acquisition to the reliability, operations, and maintenance of our rotating equipment fleet, ensuring compliance with the company and regulatory standards.

Focus:
- Deliver expertise on all combustion and steam turbines, focusing on component repair recommendations, equipment upgrades, operations, and both routine and outage maintenance.
- Interpret and apply relevant codes, regulations, and standards associated with mechanical engineering for assigned projects.
- Oversee and review processes to ensure compliance with policies, standards, and regulatory requirements, mitigating risks.
- Develop detailed component repair work scopes, RFQs for repairs, and provide recommendations to plant management and senior leadership.
- Offer technical support on-site for projects, outages, equipment upgrades, and component repairs at both vendor facilities and plant locations.
- Develop and maintain long-term maintenance outage schedules and work scopes for rotating equipment, leveraging OEM recommendations, industry best practices, and current unit conditions.
- Prepare, negotiate, and manage project-specific contracts.
- Proactively recommend solutions to Plant Managers and company executives to improve asset reliability and address performance issues.
- Manage the evaluation of rotating equipment assets for due diligence during acquisitions and major projects.
- Review previous outage reports, maintenance procedures, and preventative maintenance work orders, recommending process improvements.
- Enhance predictive and preventative maintenance programs to reduce forced outages and decrease outage durations.
- Conduct technical evaluations of LTSAs and provide recommendations to Plant Managers and operations.
- Mentor and guide co-op students, engineers-in-training (EITs), and internal engineers.
- Collaborate with other engineering and operations team members to achieve business unit and corporate objectives.
Skill Set:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; preference for Registered Professional Engineer (PE).
- 15+ years of experience as a Mechanical Engineer in Power Generation.
- Extensive experience with steam and combustion turbines, rotating equipment, vibration analysis, maintenance, reliability, design, construction, and commissioning.
- Proven project and contract management skills; experience with turbine OEM is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with CMMS, electronic drawing management systems, and SharePoint.
