Tamboran is the Operator of the most advanced acreage of the Beetaloo Basin, NT Australia. It is progressing a ~$100M gas conditioning plant (40TJ/d pilot project) that would supply gas to the existing Northern Territory gas grid by early 2026. The pilot project is the first step in a multi-stage development plan that in seeking to have Tamboran providing up to 1,000TJ/d of gas to the east-coast and constructing a new LNG export facility in Darwin called NTLNG.
Tamboran has recently completed the Concept Design Phase and is proceeding into Pre-FEED Phase with Bechtel Corporation appointed as the Engineering Contractor. The Pre-FEED scope of work consists of various technical studies that will inform plant layout and scope definition activities. The preliminary design basis for NTLNG is as a multi-train facility (up to 20MTpa) using ConocoPhillips Optimised Cascade technology.
Tamboran is currently seeking an experienced LNG Lead Technical Engineer on an initial full-time contract basis in Houston, TX to lead the reviews, approvals and definition of NTLNG design requirements.
The Lead Technical Engineer for NTLNG will:
- Own the discipline reviews for the proposed development of the NTLNG project which involves processing feed gas into LNG for export shipping;
- Support the Engineering Manager to review technical and project deliverables from the engineering contractor (Bechtel) and represent Tamboran's interest to build, own, and operate a high reliability, low emission and low-cost NT Facility;
- Support the Development Manager's role in identification of key technical, project or interface risks and have input into planning, budgetary and regulatory and permitting discussions affecting the development;
- Clearly understand Project Development phasing, develop and provide the technical assurance required to support the NTLNG development through its Approvals gate at the completion of Pre-FEED;
- Be part of the Owner’s Pre-FEED engineering management team (EMT) that will split time between the Pre-FEED Contractor’s office and Tamboran’s corporate office in Houston on an as needed basis;
- Work closely within a small NTLNG owners' team with the Engineering Manager, Project Director and Development Manager and build a working relationship with the Engineering contractors (Bechtel) Engineering team members;
- Provide technical input to the Pre-FEED engineering deliverables in a manner that helps define and narrow the scope for subsequent FEED activities;
- Review and comment on the engineering deliverables for accuracy, consistency and thoroughness;
- Assist in keeping the contractor’s team focused on safety, quality and cost;
- Develop and implement procedures required for engineering management of the Project including assurance activities;
- Respond to requests for Owner information from the Pre-FEED contractor;
- Prepare for transition of a subset of the PMT Engineering team from EPCM contractor to the Site;
- Assist in defining the Owner PMT requirements, technical specifications and standards and planning for the FEED Phase;
- Define lessons learned from Pre-FEED that need to be captured and incorporated into FEED; and
- Support the technical interface planning for the wider NTLNG development.
Minimum Candidate Requirements:
- Engineering Degree Required.
- 15+ years’ in multidisciplinary major project experience.
- 10+ years' experience in project engineering and engineering management experience, preferably as Owners Engineer on LNG or gas processing facilities.
- Preferred discipline experience in Electrical, Mechanical and/or Process Engineering roles with some time being spent in a Project Engineer or Engineering Supervisor role supporting major project development.
