Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist or Technician to lead our company's efforts in maintaining a safe and compliant work environment. The EHS Engineer/Technician will be responsible for supporting the development, implementation, and management of EHS programs and initiatives to ensure regulatory compliance, minimize risks, and promote a culture of safety throughout the organization.
Responsibilities
- Support development and implementation comprehensive EHS policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, as well as industry standards.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and processes to identify potential hazards and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
- Partner with EHS Engineer and cross-functional teams to assess EHS risks associated with new projects, processes, and initiatives, providing recommendations for risk mitigation and control measures.
- Lead incident investigation processes to determine root causes of accidents, injuries, and near misses, and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Provide EHS training and education to employees at all levels of the organization, including new hire orientation, ongoing safety training, and specialized training for high-risk activities.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to EHS activities, including incident reports, training records, and regulatory compliance documentation.
- Serve as a point of contact for regulatory agencies, responding to inquiries, submitting reports, and facilitating inspections as needed.
- Stay current on emerging EHS regulations, trends, and best practices, and communicate relevant updates to stakeholders within the organization.
- Collaborate with management to establish EHS performance metrics and goals, and track progress towards achieving objectives.
- Foster a culture of safety awareness and accountability by promoting employee engagement, participation in safety committees, and recognition of safety achievements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety, environmental science, engineering, or a related field; professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM) preferred.
- 1+ years of experience in EHS management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local EHS regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT requirements.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing effective EHS programs and initiatives, with a focus on injury prevention and risk reduction.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess complex situations, identify trends, and develop data-driven solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Experience preferred conducting EHS training and education programs for diverse audiences, including frontline employees, supervisors, and executives.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS software applications for data management and reporting.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
