Environmental Health & Safety Specialist Job Description:
This position will ensure that our company operates within all relevant environmental laws and regulations, implement sustainable practices, mitigate potential risks associated with hazardous materials while supporting other EH&S policies and programs. Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to the following.
Environmental Health & Safety Specialist Job Responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions:
- Experience with all facets of environmental management systems for RCRA, CAA and CWA including reporting and data management.
- Experience with OSHA 1910.120 requirements for diverse manufacturing facility.
- Experience with low level radioactive material management.
- Experience with developing and implementing Environmental Sustainability programs that effectively manage carbon reduction programs and calculate reduced GHG emissions.
- Develop, implement, and manage environmental strategies, policies, and programs to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to assess compliance and identify areas for improvement around environmental, health and safety.
- Maintains compliance with company policies and safety standards. Responsible for the creation of all reports submitted to regulatory agencies with respect to the facilities and the materials content within
- Prepare and submit required environmental reports to regulatory agencies.
- Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste procedures including coordinating with external vendors and ensuring proper documentation and records.
- Lead efforts to minimize environmental impact through waste reduction, recycling programs, and energy conservation initiatives.
- Monitor air and water quality, hazardous material handling, and pollution prevention measures.
- Respond to environmental incidents, assist in investigations, and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Stay informed about regulatory compliance changes impacting the company. Ensure that the company policies and practices are updated accordingly.
- Provide environmental training and support to employees and help coordinate other EH&S policies and procedures
- Maintain and publish the Facilities Calendar of Events, including the dates of all required reporting to regulatory agencies
- Manages and handles hazardous waste

Supervisory Responsibilities: None
Qualification Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field with 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
- In-depth knowledge of environmental regulations (EPA, OSHA, etc.) and hazardous materials management.
- Strong verbal and written communications, excellent organizational skills, and attention to detail is required
- Experience working within ISO9001 and ISO13485 certifications preferred
Working Environment: Office, manufacturing, and warehouse; some manual labor and evening/weekend work may be required. Hazardous materials training as required.
