Sequenom, part of LabCorp’s Women’s Health and Genetics division, is focused on women's healthcare tests and non-invasive prenatal screening test (NIPT). We are seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) to join its molecular clinical laboratory. The CLS will ensure that complex molecular diagnostic assays and systems are performed under appropriate compliance and regulatory requirements. The successful candidate with strong communication skills will also independently perform clinical lab testing and other scientific examinations and record appropriate test documentations and evaluate test results. Additionally, this position will provide technical support to the laboratory including assay validation, troubleshooting, and implementation.
The shift for this position will be Tuesday – Saturday, 3pm-11:30pm

Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement assay improvements
- Utilize a wide array of instrumentation, including Hamilton liquid handlers, Massarray Spectrometer and Illumina next generation sequencers, performing quality control, troubleshooting, and calibrations, in accordance with applicable policies and procedures
- Follow prescribed Standard Operating Procedures for sample processing
- Accurately enter results of testing. Review reports to ensure accurate test result reporting
- Identify and respond to critical values or unusual or unexpected results and maintain proper documentation
- Perform preventative maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment
- Evaluate instrument performance check results. Perform linearity, accuracy and precision checks as required
- Recognize problems and initiate troubleshooting steps to evaluate testing failures and other problems
- Monitor and maintain a consistent supply of reagents and consumables. Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
- Provide technical guidance to laboratory assistants and associates and other Clinical Laboratory Scientists. Assist training new employees
- Review and edit technical instructions and standard operating procedures
- Have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing across all shifts.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry or similar scientific discipline required
- CA CLS license required (Generalist or CGMBS)
- Specialist in Molecular (CGMBS) license highly desired
- Previous assay validation experience required
- Previous molecular diagnostics experience including DNA isolation, PCR, RT-PCR,Real-Time PCR, capillary electrophoresis and DNA sequencing highly desired
- Demonstrated proficiency in computer skills and experience with a laboratory information system
- Experience with accreditation inspections and writing and editing laboratory Standard Operated Procedures (SOP) highly desirable
- High level of attention detail along with strong communication, organizational skills and willing to work well in a group.
- Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
- Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
Pay Range: $49.88- $59.23/hour plus 10% shift differential
