Scope
- Motivated RF Validation engineer contributing as a member of the RF System and DVT team
- This position is part of the RF Cellular IC Engineering Division in San Diego, CA
- Product focus on wireless radio transceivers for cellular handset platforms
- Experience in 2G/3G/4G/5G technologies RF System and DVT testing ( NF,IP2,IP3, ACLR, CIM3, Phase Noise, Lock Time)
- Knowledge of RF Transceiver debug and characterization, as well as a strong academic background is strongly preferred
Specific Responsibilities
- RF Systems evaluation and DVT testing of designs of high performance and highly manufacturable products for wireless cellular and networking applications
- RF systems evaluation (Link budget analysis, NF, IP2, IP3, Blockers, EVM) and DVT testing of designs of RF and mixed signal circuit in commercial/standard CMOS technologies for mass productions
- Develop test solutions for RF Transceiver products using (e.g. MatLab, C#, Python scripting, Labview, etc.)
- Design and debug of test interface hardware and software:
- Test RF Systems parameters for RX receive receivers (LNA/Mixers, Lo chains, channel filters, and bb drivers)
- Test RF Systems parameters for Integrated switch-cap and continuous time baseband filters
- Test RF Systems parameters for High-speed Analog-to-Digital and Digital-to-Analog Converters
- Test RF Systems parameters for RF VCO's, PLL synthesizers, Clock oscillators, and clock buffer circuitry
- Co-work with local RFIC/PLATFORM/Testing team on RF/system level issues through the project development
- Design and validation of integrated calibration and test algorithms
- Co-work with worldwide RF hardware team, RF system team on the development status sync up, issue debugging
- Support all stages of development from design through prototype, beta, production and support
- Maintain skills and expertise in the RF, and telecommunications industry
Required Skills/Abilities:
- MSEE or BSEE with equivalent work experience in RF System and DVT test engineering
- 1 year RF design experience, Mobile phone, handheld wireless product is a plus
- Knowledge in RF blocks, e.g transmitter, receiver, Preferably in NR/LTE/WCDMA/CDMA/GSM cellular system
- RF debug experience, trouble-shooting capability, familiar with RF design tool and equipment, (Spectrum Analyzers, Signal generators, Network Analyzers, Fast Oscilloscopes)
- Demonstrated knowledge in cellular systems (5G, LTE, WCDMA, GGE) is desired
- System-level analysis including but not limited to
– Linear/non-linear simulation and measurement (Gain, IMD, P1dB, IP3, Blocker Performance, etc.)
– Cascaded chain analysis (Noise figure, gain distribution, dynamic range, etc.)
– Modulated measurements in dynamic radio configurations (EVM, phase error, spectral mask, etc.)
- Good oral, written communication, and organizational skills
Education and Experience:
- MSEE or BSEE with equivalent work experience
