ENGINEERING MANAGER | Ohio Operations
Description
This position will support Ohio operations at our Sharonville and West Chester plants located in Northern Cincinnati. Position will manage and support teams responsible for equipment and facilities maintenance, project management and new program launch.
This person will lead a multiple teams of engineers and technicians in complex technical projects involving high-performance hardware and software. It will require careful management of project logistics to consistently deliver working systems on time. Train and facilitate their teams in engineering best practices to ensure a high-quality product. Negotiate requirements with demanding customers, vendors, suppliers and departments. Facilitate regular meetings with all parties, internal and external, pushing toward project milestones. Work with subordinate teams to remove obstacles blocking the engineers from achieving their tasks and look for opportunities to advance them toward their career goals.
DUTIES:
- Direct and manage all Engineering and Technical staff in Ohio.
- Provides direction, leadership and mentorship to engineering staff to accomplish company goals and objectives.
- Oversee overall analysis, design and testing on products and provide design suggestions and support to design engineers.
- Establish and monitor overall engineering performance guidelines to meet company objective and standards.
- Oversee customer support from an engineering standpoint (Engineering/Sales/Quality/Delivery).
- Coordinate and enhance team to team activity (Cross functionality).
- Coordinate and enhance UIC and Usui Japan joint engineering activities.
- Oversee supplier control from an engineering standpoint (Production Readiness/Price/Capacity/Quality).
- Oversee program launch status (APQP).
- Develop and control profits, plans, and budgets.
- Implement cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages and salaries.
- Conduct weekly engineering meetings for OH and MI Engineering.
- Attend and participate in various meetings including, but not limited to: weekly sales meetings, APQP meetings for all programs and monthly QOS meetings.
- Travel required less than 25% and will include unassisted occasional international travel.
- 4S compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- BSME (MSME or MBA is a plus).
- Minimum of 5 years engineering management experience.
- 5-10 years Manufacturing Engineering experience.
- Tier One automotive experience.
- Working knowledge of budgets and financial statements.
- Background with manufacturing methods, process improvement programs and procedures.
- Effective oral and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills.
- ERP experience preferably with PLEX.
- Japanese and/or Spanish language skills, a plus.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Experience in copper brazing, welding, and assembly
