Sr. Production Planner - San Jose
Full time, direct hire, onsite, salary $115K - $130K
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain production schedules based on customer orders, demand plans and forecasts, production capacity, and material availability ensuring alignment between ERP production schedules and customer requirements
- Lead the team on planning continuous improvement efforts and best practice use of MRP system; provide input and support in the development and implementation of production planning strategies, policies, and procedures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, purchasing, account management, quality, and engineering to gather relevant information and ensure accurate plans and schedules identifying variances against plan to drive corrective action
- Develop and maintain a planning PFEP inventory strategy to balance service level expectations and inventory
- Monitor and analyze demand forecasts, sales orders, and production requirements to effectively balance supply and demand
- Lead activities to ensure supply plan and schedule are aligned, in partnership with S&OP, and work to reconcile planning elements when disconnects arise
- Evaluate production processes, lead times, and capacity constraints to identify opportunities for improvement and optimize scheduling efficiency.
- Communicate production schedules and updates to various stakeholders, including account management, production, engineering, and quality.
Requirements / Skills:
- Bachelors degree in supply chain, engineering, operations management, or related field
- 5+ years proven experience in production planning, scheduling, or a similar role within a manufacturing environment
- 5+ years experience with ERP/MRP systems
- 8+ years of supply chain experience
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed decisions under pressure
- Strong knowledge of production planning and scheduling principles, methodologies, and tools
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task effectively
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence cross-functional teams
- Proactive mindset and ability to anticipate potential production issues and implement preventive measures
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is desirable
- APICS certification a plus
