Chief Financial Officer
Join an exciting private equity-backed growth COMPANY in the Upstream Oil & Gas water treatment space. COMPANY was founded by long-time industry veterans and is headquartered in Irvine, CA. COMPANY plans to provide turnkey water treatment solutions involving desalination processes with competitive project financing. The COMPANY serves Upstream Oil & Gas producers by providing a reliable alternate solution for disposal of produced water, a by-product of oil and gas exploration and production, by treatment to discharge quality.
COMPANY is seeking a Chief Financial Officer to join its growing team. This position will report directly to the CEO of the company and the Board Audit Committee and is primarily responsible for raising capital (project financing, planning, organizing, and directing the Finance (i.e. Financial Planning & Analysis, Reporting, Treasury) and Accounting (Internal Controls and Tax) functions for the COMPANY while ensuring legal compliance, along with the attainment of short and long-term objectives consistent with the strategic direction of COMPANY. The CFO will serve as a critical member of the Executive Team and is expected to contribute to COMPANY’s strategy and planning development. The CFO is required to have a high level of knowledge and expertise in project financing, supporting project contract negotiations, accounting, and financial functions of the COMPANY, the CFO’s ultimate value will be in the practical application of these skills to the business. The practical application requires that the CFO have a deep understanding of the value drivers, workflows, and performance levels across the COMPANY that produce a defined level of success.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for performing all tasks necessary to achieve the COMPANY’s mission and help execute growth plans
- Raising capital for environmental infrastructure projects and supporting the negotiation of long-term contracts with feedstock, offtake, and service providers
- Contribute to the development of strategic objectives and daily tasks that align with the COMPANY’s strategic plan as defined by the executive team
- Oversee the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities for the COMPANY including organizational revenue/expense and balance sheet reports, development activities, and monitoring of organizational and cash flow budgets
- Work pro-actively with senior management and investors to ensure the COMPANY achieves revenue objectives
- Participate in developing new business, specifically: assisting the CEO in identifying new funding opportunities, drafting the COMPANY/department budgets, determining cost effectiveness / ROI of prospective service delivery, analyzing investment opportunities, and providing recommendations on potential returns and risks
- Conduct risk analysis with internal business units as well as new business opportunities, including business sensitivity analysis.
- Utilize forward-looking models and activity-based analyses to provide financial insight into the organization’s plans and budgets
- Participate as a member of the Executive Team to ensure sound management decisions
- Responsible for coordination with external tax preparers for all tax-related issues and returns at all levels
- Oversee a Controller/FPA Director and manage business support services (Accounts, Audits, Taxes, Payroll, Insurance, HR, IT, Marketing and legal)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree is required, with a minimum of 15 years of relevant financial / leadership experience
- Ideal candidate must have experience in raising capital for infrastructure projects and experience with negotiating long-term contracts during project development
- Prior experience in the Upstream Oil & Gas Industry or Infrastructure development is preferred
- Ability to manage and complete multiple projects simultaneously with a sense of urgency
- Excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
- Significant knowledge, understanding, and application of GAAP and other compliance and report
- Experience dealing with complex financing models with a detailed understanding of capital investment analysis
- Experience with developing systems and procedures and working closely with cross-functional employees
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills along with advanced presentation skills
- Excellent analytical skills with superb interpersonal skills and the ability to work with all levels within the COMPANY and externally
Preferred/Qualifications:
- MBA, CPA, and/or CFA preferred
- Prior experience in the Upstream Oil & Gas Industry or Infrastructure development
- Prior experience as CFO of a Private Equity portfolio COMPANY
- Live in the Orange County area and work out of the Irvine office
Compensation:
An attractive compensation package based on background and experience. The package includes a base salary, incentive bonus, and equity participation.
