Job Overview
Our closely-knit and highly-skilled IT Operations team needs to fill a position with great growth opportunities. There are three primary responsibilities:
- Configure and manage the company's IT systems that support our network, private cloud servers, and facilities infrastructure in addition to corporate IT needs. Colovore is a 90% Linux environment with extensive use of open-source virtualization and IAAS deployment systems. We currently manage over 100 virtual machines for our internal systems. Python is our scripting language standard.
- Your role will include the use and creation of the scalable backend automation tools that these systems require.
- Provide day to day technical assistance to our colocation and managed IT services customers who will be using similar systems themselves.
- Support the backend systems and software codebase of our python based customer portal as part of the team.
This is an IT-focused, but not a traditional IT-only role. Through on the job training, you will also be expected to support and learn the usage, configuration and backup of our facility management software systems. You will gain an understanding of our electrical and mechanical systems with an aim to doing basic troubleshooting and simple vendor management and follow-up.
Technical Requirements
This is not an entry level role.
We are looking for candidates with 5-10 years of up to date experience working in systems administrator or DevOps roles.
Required Technical Skills
Current hands on knowledge of the following is necessary:
- Linux systems: Administration and troubleshooting (Windows a plus)
- KVM or Xen virtualization: Using orchestration software such as Xen Orchestra or Digital Rebar.
- Software containerization: Using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Automated software configuration management tools: Such as Puppet, Chef and Ansible.
- Software version control systems: Including their automation
- Open-source analytics and visualization tools: Such as Grafana and Prometheus
- Single sign-on identity providers and related systems: Such as Authentik, In-Tune, Okta, Active Directory, LDAP
- Monitoring systems: Such as Nagios or Zabbix
- Infrastructure support software: Such as DNS BIND, Apache, Linux clustering and Postfix
- Scripting: In one or more of the following languages; Python, BASH, Powershell.
- Troubleshooting tools: Such as tcpdump, netstat, iostat, traceroute
- Corporate IT: Support for windows based end user laptop and desktop systems
- Pager and on-call duty: Participation in our rotating duty roster for internal IT systems and customer support
Highly Desirable Technical Skills
Knowledge of the following will significantly elevate candidate evaluation:
- Basic Cisco network configuration and troubleshooting: VLANs, access lists, connectivity
- Database management: DevOps support for platforms like MySQL and Postgres

Qualifications
It’s desirable that candidates have either of the following:
- Non-post graduate tertiary education in in Computer Science, IT Engineering, or other related disciplines.
- Current Linux and/or Cisco certification
Candidates with post graduate qualifications will be deemed overqualified and automatically rejected.
Compensation
Compensation will be determined based on experience level and fit, and will consist of a base salary and bonus incentive program. We believe in rewarding outstanding performance with outstanding compensation.
