The Role:
The Sales Representative will build relationships and grow volume with Retail and Food Service partners, as well as seek out and secure new opportunities. This role will act as a champion and ambassador for 49th Parallel Coffee and the Specialty Coffee movement.
The role is a 9-month fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will be based in the Greater Los Angeles/Orange County area.
Primary Responsibilities:
Retail Store Growth
- Engage with Store Managers/Teams to educate and advocate on our brand
- Drive brand awareness in top stores through negotiation of secondary merchandising and display opportunities
- Prospect and close on new Retail stores to increase distribution for the brand
- Conduct compliance checks to ensure availability and report on stock issues
- Report regularly on wins, challenges and opportunities
Product Trial Program
- Conduct In-Store Demos (3-5 per month)
- Engage with customers to create excitement and connections with our brand
- Follow guidelines for demo including set up/take down procedures and coffee preparation
- Educate customers on our brand, coffee preparation and key selling features
- Maintenance of Demo equipment, transportation, and storage
- Work with Marketing Coordinator to schedule demos around key sales periods
Food Service Account Management
- Build strong relationships with our Café and Restaurant partners in the region
- Conduct monthly visits to offer product support and ensure satisfaction
- Report regularly on wins, challenges and opportunities
Strengthen Relationships with other Stakeholders
- Build relationships with our Broker and Distributor partners to gain influence
- Educate Broker and Distributor teams on our brand and key selling features
- Work closely with these teams to identify opportunities and build volume
Other Special Projects as determined by the Leadership Team
What’s Required:
- Minimum two (2) years of Retail/Grocery sales experience
- Passion for Specialty Coffee and the coffee industry
- Desire and drive to negotiate and open new business opportunities
- Excellent customer focus & relationship management skills
- Strong communication (verbal and written) skills
- Ability to act as an ambassador of the brand and demonstrate the Company Values
- Demonstrate sound judgment and problem-solving skills
- Valid Driver’s license and vehicle required
- Must be based in and able to travel throughout the Greater Los Angeles/Orange County Region; some travel to the Pacific Northwest also required
- Some moderate lifting will be required
- Estimated time in the field- 80%, Estimated travel 10%
