Summary:
As the VP of R&D, you will be directly responsible for the company’s research, development, and growth. This hybrid role blends management and project management skills with product vision and cybersecurity expertise. The VP of R&D will drive continuous product research and innovation, improve existing products, integrate newly acquired product sets, and ensure operational excellence within the R&D team. The ideal candidate will inspire and nurture a diverse team of developers while focusing on team and client success, predictable results, and operational efficiency.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Translate business goals and product requirements into actionable development plans.
- Ensure development projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Provide strategic planning, direction, and control of product development activities, contributing technical insights to the overall business strategy.
- Scan the competitive landscape for differentiators and gaps.
- Plan, communicate, and coach for the professional growth and leadership development of the R&D team.
- Manage all financial aspects of the R&D team, including forecasting, reconciliation, analysis, and actionable insights.
- Foster collaboration by nurturing channels of communication across business units to achieve organizational goals.
- Provide technical direction and guidance for all product development needs throughout the organization.
- Continually evaluate organizational structure, methodologies, and technologies to enhance productivity, implementing necessary changes.
- Communicate cybersecurity industry trends and emerging technologies that can provide the organization with a competitive advantage.
- Manage strategic partnerships with vendors and suppliers.
- Develop and drive the technology facets of the product roadmaps to position the team for long-term success and minimize attrition risks.
- Serve as an effective liaison between customers and internal departments.
- Perform other R&D and job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in a Senior Developer role.
- Previous experience in cybersecurity.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a technical degree, or a relevant field.
- Strong experience in full-stack development preferred.
- Experience in leading, managing, and mentoring a team of developers.
- Strong ability to professionally review and document code.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and project management skills.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
