The Front desk clerk is responsible for providing customer service and performing administrative duties around the office. Their main goal is to make people feel welcome and help them get what they need.
Responsibilities include:
- Greeting visitors - Welcoming guests and making them feel comfortable
- Answering phones - Answering, screening, and forwarding calls, and taking messages
- Providing information - Answering questions from visitors and callers, and directing guests to the right people or offices
- Handling paperwork - Maintaining appointment calendars, office records, and customer details
- Performing clerical tasks - Faxing, scanning, filing, and mailing documents, and ordering office supplies
- Other duties - Monitoring security and telecommunications systems, coordinating events, handling complaints, and making payments
Front desk clerks should have excellent verbal and telephone communication skills, be organized, and be able to multitask. They may also need to be familiar with multi-line phone systems and Microsoft Office, and have some prior experience.
