Senior/Director, In Vivo Pharmacology (Gene Therapy)
Are you ready to take a pivotal role in advancing ground-breaking gene therapy solutions? A forward-thinking biotech company is on the lookout for a seasoned expert to lead their in vivo pharmacology efforts. As a Senior Leader in this team, you will play a crucial role in steering the design, execution, and management of in vivo studies that are vital to progressing gene therapy programs through regulatory pathways, including FDA IND applications. This is a full-time and permanent opportunity, based onsite in South San Francisco, CA.
Base salary: $185-275,000. The salary offer will be based on a variety of factors, including experience, qualifications, internal equity etc.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Innovation: Drive the development and enhancement of platform technologies and preclinical initiatives, guiding gene therapy candidates toward successful regulatory milestones.
- Oversee Studies: Manage the full lifecycle of in vivo pharmacology studies, from design and implementation to reporting, ensuring they align with the company's strategic objectives.
- Strategic Development: Create and execute forward-looking research strategies that support the company's therapeutic pipeline, ensuring that preclinical studies are both innovative and aligned with overall goals.
- Vendor Management: Identify and manage relationships with external research partners and CROs to expand internal capabilities and deliver critical data.
- Innovative Approaches: Lead efforts to identify and develop preclinical and clinical biomarkers, staying at the forefront of research and innovation.
- Foster Collaboration: Ensure effective communication and collaboration across internal teams and with external stakeholders, promoting a cohesive approach to research goals.
- Cultural Leadership: Contribute to a team environment that emphasizes collaboration, continuous improvement, professional growth, and inclusivity.
What You Bring:
- Expert-Level Knowledge: Advanced degree (MD/PhD) in fields such as Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biochemistry, Immunology, or Physiology.
- Extensive Experience: Over 15 years of hands-on experience in designing and leading in vivo pharmacology studies within the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, with a minimum of 10 years in leadership roles.
- Technical Mastery: Deep expertise in study design, a broad range of in vivo disease models, and advanced in vivo techniques, including imaging.
- Leadership Prowess: Strategic thinker with a strong track record of building and leading high-performing scientific teams.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities, essential for effective collaboration with cross-functional teams and external partners.
