We are seeking a seasoned engineer with a strong background in heat transfer and thermal systems, specifically within the automotive, turbine, aviation or aerospace industries. This individual will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and optimizing engine components and systems. The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience, a passion for engineering design, and a self-starter attitude.
Responsibilities:
- Heat Transfer Expertise: Apply in-depth knowledge of heat transfer principles to various engine applications.
- Hands-On Development: Work with hardware, design components, and conduct practical experiments to validate designs.
- Innovative Design: Exhibit a passion for creating innovative engineering solutions and driving projects forward.
- Component Management: Oversee hardware components and sub-systems, ensuring functionality, durability, manufacturability, and serviceability.
- Team Collaboration: Collaborate with design, electrical, software, and performance teams to create robust designs.
- Technical Reviews: Conduct technical reviews, present findings, and propose solutions for any identified conflicts.
- Prototyping and Validation: Build, test, and validate prototypes regularly to identify and correct design flaws.
- Supplier Coordination: Assist in identifying and selecting suppliers for prototypes and production needs.
- Procurement Support: Support the purchasing process and procurement of hardware from key suppliers.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with industry developments and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Project Leadership: Lead and manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring they meet cost, quality, and schedule requirements.
- Compliance: Adhere to special security requirements and regulations, ensuring designs meet safety standards.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Aerospace Engineering is required.
- Master’s degree in one of these fields is preferred.
Experience:
- 5-10 years of engineering experience with a strong track record in designing and troubleshooting complex systems.
- At least 2 years of experience in the automotive, aerospace, or medical device industry is preferred.
Skills:
- Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders to address their needs promptly.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to mentor junior engineers.
- Proficiency in ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.
- Expertise in fluid and thermal systems design and optimization.
- Advanced skills in NX 3D CAD tools and 2D prints with GD&T.
- Experience with structural and thermal FEA tools such as ANSYS.
- Exposure to electrical systems, including motors, inverters, and batteries, is a plus.
- Hands-on experience in lab testing, including installing, calibrating, and reading instrumentation for pressure, temperature, flow, strain, and acceleration.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
- Competency in Microsoft Office Suite.
