Description
Position Summary
The Senior Project Manager will join a team of Developers (and other subject matter experts) and develop greenfield project within RIC’s Renewable Energy portfolios across the North East region of the United States, with immediate focus on New York Distributed Generation Solar and Energy Storage. The scope starts from Feasibility Studies and continues through leading the zoning, regulatory, and use permit procedures, ultimately securing project financing. Throughout this process Project managers will be responsible for coordinating internal teams, managing external consultants, and facilitating communications and formal consultations with relevant stakeholders including landowners, board members, surrounding community members, environmental agencies. This individual will also focus on leading development through forging relationships with landowners, community leaders and other stakeholders. The Senior Project Developer’s scope does not include managing the utility interconnection application and studies (RIC has an internal team to manage this process).
Essential Job Functions
• Engage with landowners, community leaders and environmental organizations to provide information throughout the development process.
• Work on Feasibility Reports, per RIC’s internal procedures and format.
• Manage development activities of Renewable Energy projects, by utilizing RIC’s internal Standard Procedures from Feasibility Study through Ready- to- Build stage.
• Manage the zoning and use permitting, land rights entitlements and compliance processes. Personally attending meetings and public hearings at local/county/state permitting boards.
• Develop Scope of Work, select, manage, and direct third party consultants and development partners.
• Coordinate with internal Teams, such as Interconnection Team and Environmental Affairs and Permitting, Legal Team, etc.
• Develop viable and economically sustainable new and existing Renewable Energy projects.
• Develop project schedules and budgets, ensure projects are progressing on schedule and within budget.
• Report on status and critical path to completing key milestones.
• Stay informed of important regulatory and programmatic changes that would impact the development of the respective portfolios of projects.
• Prepare projects for presenting to internal and external diligence – including financing, pre-construction hand-off, etc.
• Assist with Mentoring Project Managers and Associates at more junior levels.
• Assist Project Managers at more junior levels with strategic decision-making or resolving complex development issues.
• Ability to act as a Team Leader of a small group of Project Managers and Associates (if assigned to).
• Assist management in planning and implementation of new Standard Operating Procedures.
• Carry out other duties as assigned.

Requirements
• Mastery in project management with the ability to identify and resolve potential project flaws and to prioritize critical path tasks.
• General understanding of renewable energy market trends and the resulting impacts on solar project development.
• Self-motivated and able to work effectively individually as well as with a team.
• Ability to thrive in dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Outgoing customer (partner) focus.
• Excellent problem-solving ability and ability to think on their feet.
• Strong analytical skills.
• Excellent communication, project planning and execution, time management, and problem-solving skills required.
• Willingness to travel to project sites and attend in-person meetings with Permitting Authorities.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Education/Experience
• 6+ years of project development related experience preferably in renewable energy. Specific experience of developing projects in New York State is preferred for this role.
• Bachelor's Degree with strong academic record from a leading undergraduate program, in engineering, business administration, and economics preferred.
