Interstate Advanced Materials in Hayward seeks a CNC Programmer/Operator to set up and operate computer numerically controlled (CNC) machinery and equipment, such as routers, mills, lathes, grinders, etc. Candidate must be able to work with great concentration and precision, have a keen eye for detail and great mechanical aptitude, and comply with all safety guidelines.
They will also unload raw materials, perform test runs, and inspect and measure finished products. The goal is to produce high-quality parts and materials by programming machines that perform the correct operations.
Responsibilities Include
- Program and operate CNC machines to perform tasks such as routers, grinding, milling, etc.
- Understand the specifications of the task at hand and the desired result by reading blueprints, mechanical drawings, etc. Accurately read and interpret prints, 3D models, and general work instructions.
- Translate instructions into computer commands so the machines can perform the correct function.
- Prepare and load raw materials and parts onto the machines
- Prepare a test run to check if the machines produce outputs according to specifications.
- Program machines to complete full cycles to fabricate a large number of parts
- Supervise the machines while they execute the tasks and make any necessary adjustments to produce a better result
- Provide feedback to maximize programs for better run times, material yields, and scrap rates
- Inspect and measure finished products and compare them with requirements to determine if the process has been appropriately completed, ensuring quality and accuracy
- Check and maintain machinery daily to ensure functionality. Maintain quality control documents and update setup information
- Work as a team with other employees to help the branch reach its goals
Requirements:
- CNC fabrication experience is a must, as well as experience with precision measurement tools
- Must be computer savvy and programming experience with Mastercam preferred
- Ability to read & interpret prints/drawings & 3D models.
- Communicate positively & effectively with coworkers.
- Mathematical skills: Add, subtract, multiply, divide. Compute rate, ratios, & percentages.
- Self-motivated, able to work with minimal direct supervision
