Job Summary:
As the Staffing Program Supervisor for our new manufacturing start-up, you will be responsible for developing and executing staffing strategies to build a skilled and motivated workforce. You will play a critical role in ensuring the successful launch and ongoing operations of our distribution center by implementing effective recruitment, onboarding, and retention programs. This position requires a proactive and hands-on approach to staffing management, as well as the ability to adapt to the evolving needs of a fast-paced start-up environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. **Staffing Strategy Development:** Collaborate with senior leadership to develop staffing plans aligned with the distribution center's operational goals and objectives. Identify staffing requirements, including hiring volume, skill sets, and timelines.
2. **Recruitment and Sourcing:** Lead recruitment efforts to attract top talent for various positions within the distribution center, including warehouse associates, forklift operators, supervisors, and administrative staff. Develop sourcing strategies tailored to the local labor market and industry trends.
3. **Onboarding and Training:** Design and implement onboarding programs to ensure new hires are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in their roles. Coordinate training sessions on safety protocols, equipment operation, and company policies and procedures.
4. **Vendor Management:** Establish relationships with staffing agencies, job boards, and other recruitment vendors to support hiring needs. Negotiate contracts, monitor performance metrics, and ensure compliance with service level agreements.
5. **Compliance and Risk Management:** Ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws and regulations, including OSHA standards, worker safety guidelines, and labor laws. Implement policies and procedures to mitigate risks associated with staffing activities.
6. **Employee Engagement and Retention:** Develop initiatives to promote employee engagement, satisfaction, and retention. Conduct regular check-ins with staff to gather feedback, address concerns, and recognize achievements.
7. **Performance Management:** Implement performance management systems to assess employee performance, provide feedback, and support career development. Work closely with supervisors to identify training needs and performance improvement opportunities.
8. **Budget Management:** Develop and manage the staffing budget, including forecasting expenses, tracking spending, and optimizing recruitment costs. Identify opportunities to streamline processes and reduce hiring expenses without compromising quality.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 4+ years of experience in staffing, recruitment, or HR management, preferably in the distribution or logistics industry.
- Strong knowledge of light industrial staffing best practices, including recruitment strategies, onboarding processes, and performance management techniques.
- Experience working in a start-up or fast-paced environment, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in HRIS software, applicant tracking systems, and other HR technology tools.
- Certification in HR (e.g., PHR, SPHR) is a plus.
Work Environment:
This position will be based at our manufacturing facilities, where you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build and manage the workforce. The environment may involve exposure to warehouse operations, including noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
